Anna Nicole Was On Non - Ephedra Weight Loss Pills

Thank goodness, she wasn't taking ephedra. The diet pill industry will be hammered by the announcement earlier today that Anna Nicole Smith was on a host of prescription drugs including weight loss medication, when she died last month. The model and TrimSpa spokeswoman was not taking ephedra.

Broward County Coroner Joshua Perper told the media during a press conference set up to reveal the results of Smith's autopsy. "she was taking a number of anti-anxiety drugs and weight reducing drugs, human growth hormones."

Among the drugs in Smith's system at the time of her death included Topamax. The Coroner said either human growth hormone or B12 had been injected into her buttocks days before her death. Access Hollywood reported that studies on Topamax have revealed that when the medication is taken in higher doses of 100 MG or more can produce weight loss. HOLLYWOOD, Fl. (March 26, 2007)

Are Ephedra Pills back? Don’t believe it!

The new ad reads, "Ephedra5 - The Only Legal Ephedra Diet Product in the USA!" Be skeptical. Read ALL the article has to say including the fact that the form of ephedra used in this product has no ephedra alkaloids. Ask your self, "Why hasn't someone thought of this before?" The bottom line is that until we have a history of use, this probably will not help the majority lose weight.

Once Metabadrine is sold out ephedra will be gone forever.

Ephedra Important in Weight Loss

Ephedra has been found to be important in weight loss. Various studies have been and still are being conducted to verify how well the drug works and how safe it is. Ephedrine suppresses the appetite, but more importantly, it speeds up the metabolism. When food is consumed, some of it is stored as fat while the rest is turned into heat energy.

Ephedrine, by stimulating the sympathetic nervous system, increases the amount of heat produced from food (called thermogenesis) and therefore decreases the amount of fat stored. This is dangerous knowledge to the person who does not understand that ephedrine alone is not fully responsible for weight loss. Although it can help burn energy, it works better when combined with coffee, tea, cola nuts, or guarana.

Ephedra ECA Stack

Studies have shown that even aspirin combined with ephedrine proved to be more effective than ephedrine alone. People who had taken only ephedrine have shown more side effects than the subjects who took ephedrine with one of the other substances mentioned above.
Easy weight loss from a pill is desirable, however, a very dangerous thing if abused. For this reason, the FDA has strict regulations on the sale and use of weight loss and dietary supplements containing ephedrine.

Excess Ephedra - Take the Recommended Dosage

There are many ephedra side effects resulting from an excess of ephedrine. Insomnia, irritability, headaches, nausea, vomiting, difficulties with urination, accelerated heart rate, and muscle twitches are some of the lesser side effects. Prolonged use can lead to disturbances in the heart's rhythm, high blood pressure, an amphetamine-like dependency, and eventually heart failure.

Ephedra Products are Safe and Effective When Taken as Directed

Researchers tested a commercial caffeine and ephedra product in three phases. The first phase tested the efficacy of the product in raising metabolic rate compared with a placebo. The second phase was a double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized 12-week trial testing the safety and efficacy of the herbal caffeine and ephedra product. The third phase observed the safety and weight loss over six months in all participants.

Approximately 40 overweight male and female subjects completed the three phases of the study. Subjects who completed phase 3 were given a gift of an additional three-month supply of the herbal dietary supplement product for home use.

Caffeine and Ephedrine Significantly Raises Metabolic Rate

The subjects who took caffeine and ephedrine had a significantly higher resting metabolic rate and lost significantly more weight than those who were on a placebo (7.7 pounds versus 1.76 pounds). There was no significant difference in blood pressure, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol or triglyceride between groups.

The caffeine and ephedra group lost more body fat than those on the placebo (7.9 percent versus 1.9 percent). There were no serious adverse effects and no evidence of toxicity on physical examination, urinalysis or blood testing at the end of the treatment.

Ephedra products havw been used by millions for decades. Experts who have studuied all of the available historical and clinical data and have come to the following conclusion: Ephedra products can be taken safely when you must stick to the serving limits and follow the warnings and precautions adopted by the Industry.

Global Warming Scare and Ephedra

Globalwarming hysteria is like the rantings created by these same Senators that ephedra was dangerous. "Turbin" Dick Durbin and "Chuckie" Chuck Schumer would fade in utter obscutity if there weren't a camera to leap in front of to show them on the news. When was the last time either of them worked on a meanigful project?

Hoodia Stuck at Port

Hoodia importer of weight-loss ingredients has run afoul of a federal law designed to protect endangered plants.

Stella Labs wants to recover 400 barrels of Hoodia held in a Carteret warehouse since they were seized in November by federal authorities at New Jersey's Newark Liberty International Airport.

The Hoodia powder was imported in violation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. The law is designed to protect rare plants and animals by controlling their movement around the world. The hoodia shipment did not have the requisite import documents, and two weeks ago Feds filed suit in federal court in Newark, seeking power to "forfeit and condemn" the Hoodia.

The extract originates in Angola, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, where bushmen use it to stave off hunger in the desert. Promoters of the Hoodia, who tout it as a weight-loss product, say it curbs the desire to eat.

Don M. Bosco, a New York attorney for Stella Labs, said the company faces a "lose-lose situation."

If the plant extract is released, Stella will have to pay warehouse costs that so far total more than $40,000, he said. And if the Hoodia is not returned, it would cost the company several hundred thousands dollars, he said.

"This is a major, major dollar-value shipment that could put Stella out of business," said Bosco, and described his client as a "small company stuck in the arcane and Byzantine customs regulations."

He said Stella's United Kingdom exporter was responsible for the paperwork.

Sounds like someone did not pay Tony Saprino. Stella Labs is one of the few trusted Hoodia Gordonii importers. This is just another way the Feds will continue to beat down the supplement industry on behalf of the FDA and their friends in Big Pharma. This exact move was also made on importers of ephedra.

Taking Ephedra or Hoodia, Tell the Doc

We don't know how many will take ephedra, hoodia or one of the many otc weight loss products today, but if you do and you need to go to the doctor, let him/her know. We do know that one in seven U.S. adults has used nonprescription dietary weight loss supplements. the problen is that few tell their doctors.

Women aged 18-34 had the highest reported use of nonprescription dietary weight loss supplements. That news appears in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.

The CDC's Heidi Michaels Blanck, PhD, worked on the study with colleagues at the University of South Carolina and Arizona State University.

They interviewed about 9,400 U.S. adults (aged 18 and older) about their weight and weight loss efforts, including the use of nonprescription dietary weight loss supplements. The interviews were conducted by phone.

Fifteen percent of participants said they had ever used such supplements, and nearly 9% said they had done so in the past year.

Ephedra, chromium, and/or bitter orange were the key ingredients in the most commonly used weight loss supplements, the study shows. All three of these ingredients are in Metabadrine.
The FDA banned supplements containing ephedra in April 2004, about 16 months after Blanck's team finished their telephone poll.

Two-thirds of the people who had used weight loss supplements in the past year hadn't discussed use of those supplements with their doctors. That's risky, because stimulants aren't appropriate for some. But don't hold back because of potential drug interactions. Let the doctor know. He may not agree with your decision to take these supplements, but what does he know. They only recommend druge that kill thousands every year (VIOXX).

Manufacturers of products like Metabadrine and Hooda 750 urge doctors and patients to discuss the use of weight loss supplements. Historical useage has proven them to be both safe and effective for healthy individuals. Most physicians assume that supplements are not safe and effective, but they'll get over that. More ephedra and hoodia info to come.

What is Hoodia Gordonii Weight Loss Supplement?

Hoodia gordonii weight loss supplement is a cactus of the "succulent" cactus family, which has grown for thousands of years in the Kalahari Desert region. Hoodia has been used by the indigenous Bushmen as a natural appetite suppressant and thirst quencher during their long hunting trips for generations.

How Does Hoodia work?

Scientists believe that the reason for Hoodia's appetite suppressing abilities is a molecule called "P57". Normally, when you eat the glucose in your body rises and eventually signals to your brain (the hypothalamus) that you are full. It is believed that "P57" molecule in Hoodia mimics the effect that glucose has on your brain, telling part of your brain (the Hypothalamus) that you feel full. Consequently, you have no desire to eat.

Does Hoodia Help People Lose Weight?

One of the first studies of hoodia gordonii weight loss supplement was done on obese patients. Half of the volunteers were given Hoodia Gordonii, the other half were given a placebo. The subjects were allowed to read, watch television and eat. After 15 days it was found that those taking Hoodia had reduced their calorie intake by 1000 calories a day. Despite having unlimited access to food, the Hoodia subjects lost weight.

Over Priced Hoodia Weight Loss Pill

Remember that any diet pill made from ‘100% pure Hoodia’ is going to cost about $40-$65 for a month’s supply. Go for the companies and see if they have any certificates to back up their claims. You too may have read a couple of articles reporting that the likes of Nicole Richie and the Desperate Housewives stars are apparently getting a little helping hand from a little-known South African herb called Hoodia. According to one of Nicole’s pals (who spilled the beans to More magazine) the tiny starlet once confessed: "Hoodia makes you look hot in low-cut tops and backless dresses. It’s good for me - the bushmen have sworn by it for hundreds of years and that's good enough for me."

Hoodia comes from an ugly-looking cactus that thrives in the high temperatures of the African Kalahari dessert. The San Bushmen of the Kalahari, one of the world's oldest and most primitive tribes, have been eating the cactus for thousands of years. They use it to stave off hunger during long hunting trips and to keep their youngsters’ cravings at bay when food is in short supply.
This is how Hoodia weight loss pill works: there is a part of your brain called the hypothalamus, and within that mid-brain are the nerve cells that sense glucose sugar. When you’re full, the cells tell the brain that your blood sugar levels are good and there is no need to eat more food for now. Hoodia causes these cells to send the same message to the brain. The brain reacts as if you were full, but you’re not. You’re not hungry either.02/14/2007
